Serendipity
A short one for those of us who believe in destiny and serendipity.
There is a place in Tobago, where my father, Carlton Smith is from. The place is called Smithfield. In the middle of Smithfield lies a small hill called, Mount Marie. All my life the truth was self-evident.

in a deep and bright place
where rivers flow, and trees grow in their midst
in the place of butterflies and peach bliss, nights of blue and teach kiss
in a deep bright place, where angles taste forever,
and it is there he addressed me,
this angel,
and he asked, who is she?
and I paused, I thought he knew,
having lived with forever, I thought he would know its truth,
but he did not know
and so I drew a circle
and he still did not know,
so I told him,
as it was in the beginning, in the heart of God, so is it now,
so her name is forever, her name is everlasting,
her name is breath of God
without her I cannot breath
He smiled, he always knew, he wanted to inquire of my understanding
then he said, spell her name,
still he doubted me
So i spelt M-A-R-I-E
Se7en should be a perfect portend
Except it now conspires to teach me incongruity
The earth still moves
But I have stopped, paused...
Se7en is less than ei8ht, I know,
but so much more than I could bear,
I am left low,
at the mercy of the saints of air and sea,
Propeller thrusts and gatekeepers.

Today I drove alone
i drove a long long way down
there the scoffers and mockers addressed me
fi5ve
You are my breath
I am now on the brink
I have held long enough
Yet I must hold some more
You are my light
Darkness envelopes me
I am still; waiting,
Must I wait longer?
You are my water
I pant as a deer
Small sips I savour
Satis I remember
4our
I anticipate
Our beginning in Spring
Butterflies will Bloom

Next time take me
How far will you go?
It does not matter
The ends of the earth
Are but a stroll
t2
i need your arms around me
i need you to look at me
I need your hands in my hands
and to feel your breath on my face
I need to feel you eyes on me while i watch tv
I need you in my arms
To take me off my feet
Fill my heart with kisses
One
love of my life
love me forever
that my breath never leaves me
In the twilight of years
I will be as spring
If only you still love me.
She has returned.
